3 Day Ol Doinyo Lengai Trek
Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, or the “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language, is one of the most unique and spiritually significant mountains in Africa. Located in the northern Tanzanian Rift Valley near Lake Natron, it is the only volcano in the world that erupts natrocarbonatite lava, a rare and cool type of lava that creates otherworldly landscapes. At 2,962 meters (9,718 feet), the mountain holds deep cultural meaning for the Maasai people and offers stunning views of the surrounding plains, volcanic highlands, and neighboring peaks. The 3-day itinerary is perfect for those who want to experience both the thrill of summiting this active volcano and the beauty of the surrounding environment, including waterfalls, flamingos, and local Maasai culture.
